Registered agent search, by state and province

A registered agent search is a lookup of the agent of record for a company in a US state or Canadian province. Every company on a US or Canadian register names an agent of record — the office and address served with legal notice and process — and the register files that name with the registration. Netstate reads those secretary of state filings, on each register's own cadence. Pick a state or province to find its registered agents and the companies each one serves.

Registered agent lookup, from the source filings

Open a state to search every registered agent on that secretary of state register and find the business and corporation filings each one serves. Results carry the agent's name, filing address and the client companies tied to it — the recipient of record for lawsuits, legal notice and service of process — so a single lookup ties an agent to the entities it covers. A registered agent can be an individual or a professional service; the agent must be reachable at that address during business hours to accept documents. Data comes straight from the public register, not a reseller.

Why the registered agent matters

Most states require every business entity to name and maintain a registered agent to stay in good standing; lapse it and a court matter can proceed without a defense. Some owners use a service and list the service address for privacy instead of their own. Public detail varies by register — a record may show domestic-versus-foreign status, the business address, or an owner or trade name — so a registered agent lookup doubles as a way to check where service of process should go and review the filing tied to the entity.

Counts are companies with an agent of record on file, read from the register records. Agent names are shown as the registries file them; filing variants of the same agent are merged under one page.
